California runs the program California Alzheimer’s Disease Centers or CADC. They specialize in providing dignaoses including “medical, neurological, psychological, and psychosocial evaluations, laboratory tests, and neuroimaging such as MRI, CT scan, or PET scan. Most of the costs of the services and diagnostic tests are covered by insurance” like Medicare, Medi-Cal and supplemental or private insurance.

When my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, I suddenly found myself navigating unfamiliar questions, emotions, and responsibilities. I quickly realized that beyond medical information, I needed reassurance from people who truly understood what I was experiencing. Support groups provide that sense of connection.
